At this time the RAPD is accepting applications from residents from all towns/cities, however preference will be given first to residents of the town of Randolph. Please follow the application instructions below.
Applicants must meet the requirements below prior to applying.
Applicants must:
- Understand that the Randolph Auxiliary Police Department is a strictly volunteer organization
- Have a valid Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms
- Complete the Application Process
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D
- Have a valid Massachusetts driver's license
- Have an excellent driving record
- Pass an extensive background investigation (Board of Probation (BOP)/ Interstate Identification Index (III) must be clear with no convictions)
- Must not have a felony conviction, or any conviction of a crime which would prevent the applicant from being appointed as an auxiliary police officer
- Be in good physical condition, with no medical condition that would effect the proper discharge of the duties and responsibilities of a Randolph Auxiliary Police Officer. A doctor's letter stating the candidate is in good physical condition is required.
- Have the ability to work with people from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and of all economic levels
- Have the ability to follow orders of superior officers
- Understand that when off-duty, an auxiliary police officer may be subject to a call for duty at any time of the day or night with or without advanced notice
- Be willing and able to fulfill all of the Departments training requirements
- Must have own personal vehicle. Marked patrol cruisers are provided for most details. However, some details require use of a personal vehicle to arrive at the officer's designated post.
Training Requirements
- Must attend and complete a Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (M.P.T.C) Reserve-Intermittent Basic Police Academy or equivalent
- Must be certified in the American Heart Association (AHA) Health-Care Provider C.P.R. / A.E.D. or equivalent
- Must be certified as an Emergency First Responder (EMT-P, EMT-I, EMT-B, or First Responder).
- Must attend In-House training programs covering, but not limited to, Use of force (Use of Baton and Use of Oleo-Resin Capsicum (O.C.), Firearms Qualification, Department policy and procedures, as well as Department rules and regulations.
If you complete this process, please be advised there are no "reimbursements" for any and all costs that are incurred, during the process, to included but not limited to, equipment, mileage, tuition, fees, or any other costs.

Within the body of your Cover Letter state the reason(s) that you would like to be considered for an Auxiliary Police Officer position. Also please include ALL of your training and education certificated and documents (i.e. Diplomas, CPR/AED cards, First Responder Certificates, Firearms License to Carry, Driver's License, etc.).
